POPS ("Poppie") NOW a  charming frolicking fellow -be perfect for someone not looking for a completely SERIOUS Kuvasz - probably ok with other dogs and cats if handled intelligently with opportunity to adjust. Takes the lead as "watcher" at night when Travis goes off duty. NOT great on a leash but LEARNING. VERY fond of toys, and attention. BOUNCY, turns "inside out" giving happy attention at the least provocation, just a lovely dog.

(At the shelter he would not even lift his head up to see what was going on.  Of all the dogs he may have come the farthest. Just a pleasure to say hi to and be with when he knows you. And really seems like he has "miles more to go" in the hands of a family who loves him to pieces! When Poppie takes a treat by hand, he is SO careful he will not even let his lips touch you. He waits with the treat on his tongue for a second, just to make sure that is all that is in his mouth)

wish list: a HOME with people to love him and play with him evvvvvvvvverrrrrrry day!!!! We'll seriously miss this dog, but he's "ready"...he needs a forever home and he;ll give you back what you give a thousand times!!!! Fleece squeakers, Merrick "sarge" bone, rope balls, anything perky and playful. Fleece blanket.

Duchess - Interesting dog, SOLID (lovvvvvvves food), with some nipple problems and possibly some allergies. When she arrived she was very thin and had long mishapen nipples. Her eyes were runny. The nipples seem to have withdrawn a bit, now that she has put some good weight on and grown a better coat. Out of coat and as described she looked very masculine and out of balance. Now she looks quite good! More like a Duchess should. She would require multiple visits before adoption, since she is not good with strangers at all. Very leery/withdrawn. She is the instigator in the pack if someone new comes in, and her bark is VERY impressive.
wish list: A VERY special person ..to love her and be her friend. She'll return the love in spades and then some. stuffed dog toys, Merrick "sarge" bone", fleece blanket (Shandy shredded her last one through the fence!!!!)

Abbie
- SHY delicate sweetheart, adoptive Mom visited for over a month , getting to know her while her run was being built. (talk about dediication towards the dog!) NOW  happy at home with her new Mom

Baby - "tough little COOKIE" - this dog is the definition  of: "looks were deceiving" . Very small with a shorter sheeps coat ALL OVER.  Cute, she's loving and playful ... BUT as tough as nails ! She will stand for no "lip" from any other dog and explains that with astounding clarity. She loves Bodie, Travis and others so she does get along with other dogs. Depends on the dog. Definitely not good around cats, chickens, ducks, guinea hens, etc. (at least for a very long time of supervision and with no guarantees) She's extremely affectionate when she gets to know you, makes excellent "decisions" about situations, and would be a really exceptional companion dog for someone. Needs room to run like the wind. Bit finicky in the food department, and if she is mad at you (for her reasons) can turn off the playful affection for short periods (she's sulking? or proving a point !) .  Loads of companionship and personality there if you earn her respect. She is a thinker. LOVES her toys and a real show off with the other dogs when she gets a new one. "Collects" all her toys from the outside run at threat of rain or nightfall. VERY organized little dog....tho "housekeeping" is not her long suit!!!!!  Whoever adopts this dog and will patiently let her come into her own (again)....is in for a delightful friendship and LOTS of fun!!! Of all the dogs, Baby makes you laugh. Not at her, with her in her expressions of joy and play.
wish list: toys, toys toys, stuffed with squeakers, ropes, fleece blanket (shandy shredded hers through the fence : see DUCHESS...OTHER side of the fence)

Marcie- is a real character, smart as a whip, devious and manipulative. Marcy is very loving, but will also use that to get what she wants. She's adored by her prospective adoptive family up Binghamton way, Will and Kelly Hotchkiss'. They delivered the dogs to us from the shelter. come regularly to visit, help out and have donated a plethora of items including 12 WONDERFUL beds Will built!!!! (Marcie continues to get presents by US post -from Kelly, and is putting on good winter weight)

Molly- Perhaps the most intellectual of the group. Smart, discerning, good decision maker. Very fond of affection, cuddling and play.  Loves to play and bounce, will crawl into your lap, turn inside out, and has learned that the "cookies" are kept in a coat pocket and will dive in to abduct one. If the pocket is bare, gloves, keys, or any other discovery will do, and she's off and running with a "laugh". A little too fond of food, she's now on a maintenance diet, Loves "cookies" and her squeakers!!!.Very responsive to verbal commands (if she "agrees"). A real "friend" of a dog. No guarantees with cats or fowl. No nonsense, smart dog but with a delightful "puppy" side. Molly spent the first week or ten days here not "talking" to anyone, just watching. Then one day simply decided, and walked up to be playful and friendly. There is no doubt that's what she will do in her new home as well given patience with her.
wish list: LOVES fleece squeakers...VERY proud and carries them around ya just can't have too many. VERY feminine dog, pristine, meticulous and ALWAYS thinking, so toys need to "match". Not at all destructive with her toys.

    Molly & Shaina

Shaina- Sweet dog, still a bit shy, but with a growing confidence that says she's more than she appears to be now. Was much thinner when she arrived, has put on good weight and confidence proportionately. Very pretty, Likes the leash, but loves to run full out. Is quite attached to Molly, if someone was looking for two, these girls would be happy together. She allows Molly to steal her food, toys, and "looks" for her when they're out for a run. Would not do well without a large fenced area to run.
wish list: toys...she doesn't seem to get her fair share, and when she does, MOLLY steals. fleece blanket.

Shandy -"Tristram Shandy" (couldn't resist the literary mention) -BIG but solid-lean male, with a mind of his own but also very affectionate. Bigger the dog, bigger the baby...tendency to whine and cry for attention when its not
"his turn" which really isn't becoming to his general look! He has a quiet reserve as well (which sounds contradictory but you have to see him), he is probably most "his own dog" of all of them while still seeking affection and attention. Keys off Duchess at the moment in an adjoining run, can be quite agressive through the fence with strangers (that's almost a Kuvasz trait isn't it?) but takes direction/verbal correction well. Meets strangers on leash politely. Loves food, cookies and his BED!!!! Would do very well in a home environment with folks who love long walks on a leash. Enjoys running free but quickly circles back for attention and cuddling. Not a dog that would do well in a competitive environment with other males. Probably would resent being left alone all day. There's more to Shandy than he's shown yet. Think he would be better in a one dog home, definitely as the only male.

wish list: someone to VISIT while he gets ready to be adoptable, Merrick "sarge" bone.... does not need a blanket as he is very particular about his OWN while shredding his kennel mates next door)

Shandy NOWvideo

Winston - OHHHHHHHHHHH Winston. If Winston was human, he'd be an emotionally challenged child with TONS of "baggage" who's doing his best to work through his "issues" and needs a home where there's NO question, that its still a lonnnnnnnnnng road to recovery.
wish list: "BACH" rescue remedy, XL  fleece/fluffy dog bed (he won't sleep on the ones that Will Hotchkiss kindly made, matter of fact won't EAT if its even at the end of a 25 foot run. Likes things to be LEVEL with the floor, and he has enough problems, not pushing it. Does not like caterpillars they are very strange creatures to be avoided at all costs)

Travis - is "Steve's dog" She seems to have really bonded. A wonderful all round girl and pretty sure she will be staying here . As lead dog in the group of 8 she's been a key to bringing the other dogs "out".

Bodie - Without doubt, the big clown of the group, though it took awhile for him to really come into his own. He is also the biggest of the group, and he is big. Is really not a "nature lover". (funny stories there)  Loves walks (he helped "find" BIRDIE), car rides and attention. Very happy and attached here and is not available for adoption.
wish list: SPOILED rotten... willing to share his mail with the others.

BIRDIE- the miracle dog. She escaped on day 2 of her time here, and spent 3 months, covering most of the 200 acres here. Amazingly stayed within the surveyed boundaries, on 2 sides of the highway (SHUDDER), Came in to eat when everyone left, and only in areas she could escape from. Would bark from a distance if dinner was late. VERY smart and very savvy. She demonstrated what we'd expect from a working Kuvasz entirely on her own, having been raised as a kennel dog. Besides intuitively understanding the boundaries of "the farm", gathered and protected a small herd of deer  (or they did her) and lived very well by her wits!!!!. Decided it was time to come back to the group as winter set in. Birdie will need vet attention, she has a mammary tumor. Another of the Karpati females had that and it was benign. Given it's stability and the length of time since it was identified (at the shelter) we might assume this is similar. Birdie is very happy and attached here and not available for adoption.
wish list: SPOILED  rotten.. and eager to share with the others....LIVER, BONELESS chicken breast... so she can have MORE homemade dog cookies (recipe below) 3 months in the "wild", took its toll, so she's on an intensive, nutrition program, gaining weight happily and VERY addicted to GOOD food!!!!!  which shenshares with other!!!!...SOLID Gold Wolf King, Merrick Cowboy cookout, Canidae chicken, lamb mix.
